A food court in a Marathahalli mall was refurbishing its common dining area, where the original mineral fibre ceiling had deteriorated from years of food vapour exposure and was failing tiles in increasing numbers. Management needed a replacement lasting through the next planned maintenance cycle — at least seven years.
Installed calcium silicate tiles throughout the food court ceiling in the existing Armstrong grid, upgraded with new suspension wires and refreshed grid sections where corrosion was found. The sealed tile surface resists the food vapour environment that had destroyed the previous tiles.
The food court reopened with a uniformly fresh ceiling that has shown no deterioration eight months post-installation. The mall's facilities manager has confirmed the calcium silicate system as the ceiling standard for future common-area refurbishments across the mall.
