A school in Hebbal was upgrading its classroom block and the specification required a ceiling system that could withstand ceiling fans mounted directly through the tile system while maintaining fire performance in an occupied school building.
Installed calcium silicate tiles throughout all classrooms in an Armstrong grid system, with reinforced tile mounting points pre-planned for each fan position. The grid suspension points were up-rated at fan locations to carry the dynamic load of ceiling fans safely.
All twelve classrooms now have a clean, uniform ceiling with ceiling fans mounted securely at the designed positions. The school has completed a full academic year without any ceiling maintenance. The calcium silicate tiles' fire performance was noted in a subsequent building safety review.
