A technology campus in Sarjapur Road was constructing covered walkways linking three buildings, and structural engineers specified a lightweight, non-combustible ceiling that could be suspended from the walkway's steel superstructure without exceeding design load limits.
Installed a perforated aluminium linear ceiling system selected specifically for its low weight per square metre. The perforation pattern provides a 15% open area for drainage in the event of any water ingress from the semi-exposed walkway structure.
The walkway ceilings were installed within the permitted loading budget and passed the structural inspection. The perforated panels prevent water pooling during monsoon, addressing a concern raised during the design review. Campus occupants use the walkways as a primary inter-building route regardless of weather.
