An IT company in Electronic City needed to enclose a new server room meeting their insurance carrier's requirement for a 60-minute fire-rated partition separating the servers from the main office. Standard gypsum partitions do not meet this rating without specific specification.
Built the server room enclosure using fire-rated GI studs with double-layer 15mm Type-F gypsum boards on both sides, achieving a 60-minute fire resistance rating per BS EN 1364-1. All cable tray and conduit penetrations were fire-stopped with certified intumescent sealant.
The server room enclosure was approved by the client's fire safety consultant and the insurance carrier's surveyor on first inspection. The company's IT infrastructure is now properly protected and the insurance requirements are satisfied.
