A penthouse in Bellandur was specifying a limewash effect paint on the main walls — a finish requiring an extremely smooth, non-porous substrate that absorbs moisture evenly during application. The existing plaster was porous in patches where it had been applied too thinly.
Applied two coats of POP punning to all walls in the limewash zones, with fine sanding between coats. The first coat was tinted slightly to reveal low spots before the finish coat was applied. All surfaces were sealed with a dilute PVA solution after punning to create the uniform porosity the limewash product required.
The limewash application produced the consistent, aged-wash effect the designer intended without blotchy patches — the result depends entirely on substrate uniformity. The interior designer has since specified POP punning as a standard prerequisite before any specialist paint application on all their Bangalore projects.
